Biased Article[edit]

Population in India in 1950 was 350 million. Now it is 1100 million. According to the numbers in the article 600,000 in 1953 and 1,878,000 in 2006. That means the crime increase is trivial but by presenting it only in absolute numbers it is made to seem that the crime in India has increased by a lot. But if you refer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_the_United_States That article is biased in favor of USA. How typical. There the numbers are reported per 100,000 population. Either both articles should present absolute numbers or both should present per 100,000 numbers or both. Having one article show absolute numbers while the other showing per 100,000 numbers shows the serious bias that Wikipedia has in favor of USA and against India. 122.164.93.94 (talk) 06:19, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comparison of Crime in India with USA: http://www.nationmaster.com/compare/India/United-States/Crime I am not saying India is better than USA. It has a lot of other problems that USA has not got. But when it comes to Crime India has lower rates when presented objectively. 122.164.93.94 (talk) 07:05, 2 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This doesn't even suggest, let alone prove, an anti-Indian or pro-American bias, merely that whoever put those numbers in this articles didn't do a good job. So I'm going to do the math myself and add per-capita crime rates. LegalNerd87 (talk) 16:32, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I've edited the text and the table to reflect per-capita rates, using the exist crime figures, a 1953 population of 375,000,000 and a 2006 population of 1,157,390,000. LegalNerd87 (talk) 16:52, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Use of plural - Crimes[edit]

The name of article should be pluralised.--Ali aff (talk) 11:34, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not needed. This article covers the general topic of "Crime in X country" (See Crime in Nepal, Crime in America etc); plural is only required if this was describing each individual crime (say List of crimes involving radioactive substances or something). -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 14:40, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
