New page from new user[edit]

This is the first page entry I've added. It seems to be one of the few clubs in Ibiza that's not got it's own page, and for myself and many more visitors to the island I would agrue it certainly merits an entry. I put in the entry in the hope that it would be added to and edited by other wikipedia users, and that it would start to form part of the online knowledge of the island. I'm a music journalist and DJ that's been visiting the island for 8 years, and I'd like to be part of the group that maintains, updates and carries on the spread of information about it. I have noticed the Ibiza entry also has some errors and is some way out of date in places.

many thanks in advance.

I would agree there are too many clubs with their own page, but the key is notability. Just being "cool" in someone opinion doesn't seem to make it encyclopedia material. Pharmboy 22:42, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it simply being a club is not a reason for it to have an entry. However, Ibiza is viewed by many as the clubbing capital of Europe, some even the world in the summer months. DC10 is one of the best known clubs on the island, and some would say one of the few that's escaped the commercialisation of the last decade that's blighted UK and European clubland. To many europeans (especially Germans, Spanish, British and Italians) it's the mecca of clubbing and has been for the last 5 plus years. Its residents are now some of the biggest DJs in the world, and its music policy has formed the trends for the rest of the world to follow for the last 4 or 5 years.
I totally understand the reasons to take down a page from someone that's only made a few contributions up to now, but I'd hope you'd leave this up for at least the moment to allow comments/discussion on it. I won't look at the page til tomrrow now as It's late in the UK.

I think its obvious to someone with some background knowledge that this entry does indeed fulfill Wikipedia's requirements for notability. It's great to see someone with your stature now contributing to Wikipedia's articles covering the Ibizan club scene. Hopefully we will at some time also have a dedicated article expounding this scene. __meco 00:05, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see 100s clubs/bands/people who start very tiny articles here, like this one was when I tagged it. 99% of the time, the tag belongs and sticks. This appears to be the 1% of the time, so I withdrew any objection and removed the delete tag I had placed. My appologies. Spam/notability hunting is a full time job and we all get it wrong sometimes. Pharmboy 00:11, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the comments, and I totally appreciate you must get pages and pages of people starting up to promote themselves/friends/etc in the guise of 'informing' the public. I'm sure you were right to tag it originally, as it most likely fulfils that criteria at first glance. I'm glad I got right of reply (it took a bit of reading to see exactly how to do this as it my first entry proper) and that you gave me a chance to argue my case. I'm hoping to further update the page with some more links this week and some more background. Off the back of this I'm going to look at other pages on Ibiza and also entries for DJs and nights that are part of the scene there.
Thanks

You might wish to take a look at WP:RAVE, a WikiProject that has been inactive since its inception in December and which I'm attempting to resuscitate, and also its discussion page. __meco 08:38, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's just the way it's supposed to work. Noone can know about a subject its notability if it's an unfamiliar subject and the article itself doesn't make it obvious. Perhaps to could have {{PROD}}'ed the article instead of nominating it for speedy deletion, however, that's just a minor point. __meco 08:38, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Competitor - The Zoo Project[edit]

Another club that is catering to the daytime crowd that has emerged in the last couple of years is The Zoo Club. I'm mentioning it here for two reasons. First, I'd like to see it have its own article if adequate reliable sources exist to reference it as being notable per Wikipedia standards. The other reason is that perhaps it should be mentioned in this article since both clubs appear to provide a club venue when the other clubs don't? Perhaps I've got some of this wrong? Any feedback is welcome! __meco (talk) 20:58, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
