Move[edit]

Wasn't this a redirect to Dante Alighieri? I believe the would be correct as a vast majority of people entering Dante would be looking for the poet known by that name. I'll have to review WP:MDP as I'd never seen it before, but the original setup seems consistent with WP:MOSDAB. (John User:Jwy talk) 18:15, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it was a correct move. I didn't see any indication at Dante Alighieri that presented the individual's name as the primary usage. Is there a source that says otherwise? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:19, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll admit I assumed it was common knowledge. I suspect it would be at least the most likely and should be first in the list. Sources would be but one input to such a decision, but I'll see what I can find. (John User:Jwy talk) 18:22, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Most convincing to me is if you search Dante in Google, all but 2-3 entries on the first two pages refer to the poet. There are also several pages like http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Dante where it is the only example of anyone with the name. I didn't find any sources that say "when people say Dante, most of the time they mean the poet," but that is not the criteria here, it's whether most people entering "Dante," they are looking for the poet. I believe this is true and that the google entries support that. This should at least be discussed at Talk:Dante Alighieri.
I have left a response here concerning your inquiries. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 01:45, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
