Propose merger[edit]

There are 5 pages on the Ducati ST bikes; Ducati ST series, Ducati ST2, Ducati ST3, Ducati ST4, Ducati ST4s. All are stubs, and all overlap.

I propose that they all be merged into the Ducati ST series page. Any views (or objections)? Arrivisto (talk) 19:43, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge Related models should be kept in one article so the history reads as a coherent narrative. Dennis Bratland (talk) 16:07, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have merged text from the subsidiary pages into the main page (work in progress). I would be grateful for help in putting merge tags onto the ST2,3 & 4 pages, prior to their deletion. Arrivisto (talk) 14:17, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Motorcycling conventions[edit]

For a general principle, I've proposed we should do this for most motorcycle articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Motorcycling/Conventions#Notability, because there is no rule of one-article-per-model, and because it conveys the narrative better:

Models which have not been covered in independent sources may be mentioned in lists or in manufacturer pages. Consider what best serves the reader's needs as well. Many times two or more motorcycle models which could technically get separate articles would work better merged on a single article, in order to present the history of their development and product life cycle as a coherent narrative.

If you support this, or wish to revise the wording, please comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Motorcycling/Conventions#RfC on Motorcycling Conventions. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 16:40, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have now merged the various Ducati ST pages into this "Ducati ST series" page, and have started knocking this one into shape. Through lack of know-how, I have made a rather hamfisted attempt to put merge notices on the other pages which are due for deletion; could someone please assist? Restore division page[edit]

I am asking here for the division of motorcycle entries to be restored as it was originally in 2016 [23], as therefore also happens on the same number of Italian and German wikis. These are different models that have little or nothing in common except part of the name. As with other similar entries, for example the Monster Panigale or Multistrada but also other manufacturer like as Honda VFR or Yamaha XT 600/Yamaha XT660/Yamaha XT500/Yamaha XT550 that have individual entries, this one must also follow the same course. Here I will deal with that later. 93.150.223.19 (talk) 19:34, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
