Discussing the extension of the Duchy[edit]

The "discuss" sign marks the sentence about the Duchy of Milan extending from Piedmont to the lagoon of Venice at its outset. This is accurate. For a time, the Duchy comprised most of Northern Italy. Italian pre-unity states, however, were very quarrelsome and Milan's conquests did not last long.Pan Brerus (talk) 17:16, 28 September 2013 (UTC)

The shores of the Venetian Lagoon were under the control of Venice and Padua. The Visconti only controlled Padua until 1390, Padua was under the da Carraras in 1395 when the Duchy of Milan was created. Venice annexed Padua in 1405. 123.243.215.92 (talk) 05:51, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
