Disputable Information - Judaism in Durrington[edit]

I question the statement a community of Jews settled shortly before the Durrington Fire of 1405 because Jews were ordered to be expelled from all of England by Edward I in 1290 and were not permitted to return and have worship places until Cromwell's rule in the 1650s Commonwealth. The suspected antiquity of such a community is rather suspect.Cloptonson (talk) 14:05, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No sources are provided. The Durrington Fire is stated to have occurred in 1405- over 100 years after the Jews were expelled from England, and were not readmitted until 1656. It would be very surprising therefor if there was any truth in the above assertion by John Burgess that a synagogue existed in Wiltshire in 1405.
