Requested move 25 December 2015[edit]

Earth Defense Force (series)Earth Defense Force – Primary topic per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Earth Defense Force (video game) is the other article with the same name. According to article traffic stats (3573 vs 753) and search engine results (1st mention of the '91 game is on the 3rd page in Google) the series article is the primary one. • Eh, this is a little out of process since you just moved the first video game from the disambiguated name above. (It's best to recommend both moves simultaneously.) That said, right now, the Earth Defense Force already redirects here so the disambiguator is superfluous and I'm going ahead with the move, which I expect to be uncontested. (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (video games) re: series) We can discuss if not. czar 17:47, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody is going to care about my comment or maybe even ever find or read it, but I don't think the position on Google results at some point matters on what is the "primary" series of anything. Google results reflect the business needs from a private company, and one that's well known by it's evil behavior, at that. If we are talking about video games, this name belongs originally to a well known arcade release from the early 90s and subsequent release on the Super Famicom / Super Nintendo. How another unrelated company, about only ten years later, created an unrelated series of games and literally didn't research if the name had already been used, or just didn't care because it was from a small foreign developer, is beyond my comprehension, but unfair in any case just as when well known names and web domains from open source projects are stolen for business motivations. The "modern" first person series shooters is not bad, but having played both the original arcade and the console release of the original game only makes me feel bad for a nice developer and video game being "erased" by rewritting history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.23.136.196 (talk) 09:18, 10 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
