Requested move 1 March 2017[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: one moved, one not. Strong consensus on the move of the town, rough consensus not to move the village. Andrewa (talk) 23:14, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

– The current titles are unsustainable, they're ambiguous with each other. This seems to be the standard way to dab US villages with towns of the same place, which I agree looks weird. Open to other suggestions if there is something cleaner. Jenks24 (talk) 12:12, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support moves to avoid ambiguity.  ONR  (talk)  20:53, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the village at its current title, and move the town to Eden (town), Fond du lac County, Wisconsin. Despite their different naming convention, Wisconsin towns are generally equivalent to civil townships in other states. When a village and a town share the same name, especially when the town and village are neighbors, the village is essentially always the primary target (and what people think of when they refer to "Eden, Wisconsin"). As for the town's article, Eden (town), Wisconsin is ambiguous with Eden, Iowa County, Wisconsin, which is also a town, so we'll probably have to do what you proposed for Monroe. • I agree with The Catalyst31 about keeping the title for the village of Eden and changing the title for the town of Eden in Fond du Lac County. There is also a town named Eden in Iowa County, Wisconsin; the town of Eden in Fond du Lac County should keep Fond du Lac County within its title to avoid confusion with the town of Eden in Iowa County.
