Elle Fanning's 8th Birthday Project[edit]

I know we can't post links to Yahoo! Groups in the actual articles because of "advertising" rules, but I thought you'd all like to know that the Elle-Fanning Yahoo! Group is sponsoring an 8th birthday project for Elle Fanning. We are going to mail Elle a birthday card full of messages from us fans, and send her an "Ask Elle" 8th Birthday interview. If you are interested in writing a message to Elle, e-mail all submissions to: stephe1987@yahoo.com by April 2, 2006. We will send you a confirmation e-mail telling you that we received your submission. Stephe1987 04:56, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RM The "I Heart Elle Fanning" Pic?[edit]

Can we get a publicity shot that doesn't say "I Heart Elle Fanning"? It seems very fan-gushy. In either case, should we remove this? I don't see how the use of this photo qualifies for fair use when we already have two other pictures of her, in screenshots from her films. --DDG 21:58, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did her dad or her mom name her "Mary"?[edit]

The first paragraph and the trivia section conflict in this matter, and obviously one is wrong - so which is it? Emily (Funtrivia Freak) 03:14, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The mother, Joy, picked the girls' first names, and the father, Steve, picked their middle names. Both sisters (Hannah Dakota and Mary Elle) use their middle names professionally, which were chosen by their father. I hope this helps! Stephe1987 03:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, for Elle, Elle's mom wanted the name, "Mary" but their dad wanted the name, "Elle". So they did Mary Elle Fanning. Elle uses her middle name just like her older sister, Dakota. Hope this helps. :] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.20.61.156 (talk) 19:01, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Official Site[edit]

Elle-Fanning.org is a FAN SITE, not Elle's official site. I have just removed it from this page, seeing as the Fanning girls do not have an official site. Stephe1987 02:02, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"She is the most beautiful actress Hollywood has ever seen"?[edit]

This article is in need of some desperate resuscitation...or a complete overhaul. It's just odd. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.118.29.76 (talk) 20:24, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, I think Dakota is hotter. (lol) Blooded Edge (TCA) 18:31, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A picture would do[edit]

Can some one please put a picture of her on this page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.248.237.217 (talk) 00:50, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done[edit]

I have added a photo of Elle which was taken on November 2009, during the premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon in Westwood, California and it is from Flickr.

According to Flickr's website, the image is copyrighted. Was permission obtained to use it, or has the license been changed for free use? Cresix (talk) 03:50, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

The permission was obtained to be use and the real owner of it is from Getty images instead of Flickr. Anyway, in a meantime, just use it to support the article.

Has the permission been provided in writing to Wikipedia, or just to you? Cresix (talk) 03:56, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the copyrighted image pending editor's explanation or administrative approval that the image can be freely used. Cresix (talk) 04:06, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stop changing her categories[edit]

Stop editing out categories she belongs too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.248.236.138 (talk) 21:37, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She is already listed under Category:Americans of Irish descent and Category:Americans of German descent. That is easily supported by the article text. Category:German-Americans and Category:Irish-Americans are for immigrants or people who are predominantly either German or Irish or have German or Irish parents. Listing them both is a conflict with each other - which one is predominant? --NrDg 22:15, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Have changed it back to read Mary Elle Fanning I can't find the specific policy on naming, but see Gordon Brown, George Eliot etc., where full name introduces article Jomunro (talk) 21:04, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

STOP CHANGING THE NAME[edit]

I don't mean to be rude but this is ridiculous! Her full name is Mary Elle Fanning, not just Elle Fanning, we should leave it that way. I just edited. So whoever changes it, don't waste your time, it will get changed right back.

Mothers maiden name[edit]

Her mothers maiden name is Arrington, which is of English (Anglo-Saxon) origin. So i think she should be listed under Americans of English descent also. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.193.108.36 (talk) 12:53, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A new picture and some editing on the page?[edit]

This page could use some editing, and it could also use a picture. Another thing, could we possibly, add more information, this page is pretty dull, and I'm sure that most of us know that there's more information we can put on this page.

Thanks. :] — Preceding unsigned comment added by EllesCrew (talkcontribs) 19:10, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Singer?[edit]

Is she really a singer? Cant seem to find any references for this. Generalpompeyo (talk) 23:04, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

She probably sang a song somewhere at one time, prompting this IP user to add "singer" to her resume. It happens all the time. I have removed it from the article.--Atlan (talk) 08:33, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Probably from the little musical number she did in Phoebe in Wonderland.[1] For An Angel (talk) 17:07, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but that does´t make you a singer. She is an actress, and in this particular case she sang as part of her interpretation. Generalpompeyo (talk) 14:55, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

re: filmography[edit]

She's signed up to play Aurora/Sleeping Beauty to Angelina Jolie's movie, Maleficent. I think this should be included in the write up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.211.164.198 (talk) 08:03, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ancestry[edit]

I'm confused. I added information pertaining to Ms. Fanning's ancestry a while ago, but it was just removed. The contribution in question was taken by me from the Dakota Fanning genealogy that is already used here as a reference anyway. I even put it beside the said reference for convenience. Why was it deleted?
