Related to Karl Marx[edit]

Not a forebear. The Pressburger family came from Pressburg (now Bratislava, Slovakia). Henrietta Pressburger (no direct relation) was the mother of Karl Marx -- SteveCrook (talk) 17:34, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs to include his most famous films as well[edit]

The article as it stands is very misleading. It needs to include his most famous works as well. The fact that they were done with Powell is certainly no resason to exclude them from the article. I've added a few titles to the lead paragraph. Merchant Ivory Productions aren't really a good comparison because they split the tasks and the credits whereas Powell & Pressburger shared the tasks & the credits -- SteveCrook (talk) 15:03, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name[edit]

"Imre is a Hungarian masculine first name, derived from German Emmerich."

So, calling one's child Imre József Emmerich Pressburger would be like Mr and Mrs Smith calling their new baby Andrew Peter André Smith. Hungarian WP says his birth name was Imre József Pressburger. Clearly, the Imre became Emmerich somewhere along the way, and then the Emmerich was changed to Emeric. -- Jack of Oz ^{[your turn]} 09:05, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It does happen that people repeat names (e.g. John John Molina). But in this case I agree with you. Kevin Macdonald gives Emeric's birth name as "Imre József Pressburger" in his biography of his grandfather -- SteveCrook (talk) 16:35, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Credit for "Emil und die Detektive" (D 1931) undeserved[edit]

Hello there, the script writing credit of Pressburger for "Emil und die Detektive" is undeserved. While Pressburger had initially been commissioned to write the script, his first script version failed to please Erich Kästner, renowned author of the original story. Following to Kästner's protest Ufa-producer Stapenhorst commissioned Austrian-born Billy Wilder to replace Pressburger; the credit for the script was given jointly to Billy Wilder and director Gerhard Lamprecht.

Stateless passport?[edit]

How could he have "entered Britain in 1935 on a stateless passport"? One cannot have a passport without citizenship. A stateless person can only have a lesser form of identity document.Royalcourtier (talk) 09:50, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
