Name change due to marriage[edit]

Should mention marriage as reason for name change (and to whom). --Daniel C. Boyer

LGBT rights activists[edit]

Why was this article removed from the "LGBT Rights Activists" list? The Chicks have been very supportive of the Gay community. We had a whole discussion about this on the Natalie Maines page. Lady6String 14:24, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for removing Emily Erwin from the LGBT activists group. This addition seemed like vandalism when my internet research didn't yield any results that suggested she belonged in this group. Ben P. 00:02, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Crab puff fight?[edit]

Is it really necessary to include that she fought over a crab puff with Johnny Cash? It's unencyclopedic, and quite frankly, a little silly. Dylan Slade 01:21, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Children's Birthweight?![edit]

OK, I don't even WANT to know who started the stubs for Emily Robison or (Martie Maguire) but by the 3 or 4 "references" given, it was obvious that somebody just grabbed a fansite "fun fact" sheet, and placed some of the least encyclopediac items they could find with links that don't have artcle titles included. Thus the above CRAB PUFF question came from the same fansite sheet as the time and birthweightof Robison's children.. and if you like tabloids, then you're in the right place. But this is wikipedia, right? Not to step on anyone's toes, but trivia questions abound here. --leahtwosaints (talk) 01:26, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To the person copying Martie Maguire's page:[edit]

Please, don't copy Martie Maguire's page. There is a lot in common with Emily Robison's sister's history, but as I go along, I'm sure to make mistakes. Please, look for better references, if you'd like to help with what is there already! OR, leave a note here or on my talk page! :) --leahtwosaints (talk) 05:15, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article scope was way wrong[edit]

The article had tons of general Dixie Chicks band history in it, little of which was specific to Emily. I've moved almost all of this into the Dixie Chicks article, where it belongs, and restructured the sectioning of this article accordingly.

However, now that the band history is out, this article could use more content about Emily in particular — what other artists' style influenced her on her instruments? Which of her instruments does she like best? What are her solos or other instrumental parts usually like, in terms of musical construction? Which songs has she contributed to, and what is her songwriting approach like? Stuff like that, that is specific to Emily. Wasted Time R (talk) 00:56, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, that will take some digging. Emily is extremely shy in comparison to Natalie Maines, who tends to speak for the group in most cases, with sister Martie Maguire perhaps responding in 10% of press releases-- Emily perhaps speaks up 5% of the time. --leahtwosaints (talk) 08:50, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fashion[edit]

I think mention should be made of the makeover in dress style and appearance with all of the Dixie Chicks, since it did have something to do with how the public perceived them ---and they each did change their appearance significantly over the years (particularly Emily and Martie, who favored a bluegrass and "cowgirl" look before playing with Natalie Maines), and even after that, making a transition over the years. Their website even reflects this, with Maguire referring to their early years with Maines as their "bad hair" era.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:33, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If they all changed their appearance together as a group, that belongs in the Dixie Chicks article, not in each individual article. If just one of them changed, like when Emily left blondeness, that probably belongs here. Wasted Time R (talk) 01:33, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Emily as lead vocalist[edit]

I can't recall where- though it should be fairly easy to find, probably in a video or that long biography that guy made about the Chicks from the very start-- anyway, it had to do with why Emily refused to sing anything but backup. I remember she said she was busking with her sister Martie Maguire and possibly the other initial Dixie Chicks, (before Natalie Maines, and said she took on a rendition of "Take Me Home, Country Roads", which she botched so badly that she never wanted to sing ever again. I think that would be critical to the article since she's assumed the lead vocalist position now with the Courtyard Hounds.Leahtwosaints (talk) 20:31, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Missing some other works[edit]

She was the voice of hermione in the first two harry potter games and played herself in the simpsons.

Emily RobisonEmily StrayerThis chunk of search results seems to suggest that contemporary references to the band use "Strayer". As the band is still active, the article should reflect contemporary naming. Emily RobisonEmily Strayer – this now appears to be her name even according to Wikipedia's own Chicks article. Georgia guy (talk) 19:35, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support In the last move discussion, it looks like the sole oppose !vote was because news sources were still using the old name. Looking at Google news now, the correct name seems to get about double.--Yaksar (let's chat) 21:34, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - This is the name given in all recent sources. -- Netoholic @ 12:20, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
