International indexes and rankings[edit]

What are the major indexes of environmental protection, and where does Japan rank according to them? Fg2 (talk) 21:53, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tokugawa Period issues & solutions[edit]

I'm curious if there should be a section or some notes on the environmental issues from the Tokugawa / Edo Period, which included deforestation and which were "solved" via a number of factors. I know the author Jared Diamond devotes some time in his Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed to this topic, so there's plenty of primary source material available (both in his book and its many cited sources), but am not sure if it would be a good addition to this particular article or not. Waste Management[edit]

The Waste Management section reads like an advertisement for Japan's incinerator industry. Japan has thousands of largely unregulated industrial incinerators, see the Jinkanpo Atsugi Incinerator tragedy. Japan has high levels of Dioxins and other pollutants in its air as a result of its use of incinerators. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.94.245.125 (talk) 07:11, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nuclear power[edit]

After reading the Nuclear Power section I am curious as to whether the site of the nuclear waste repository has been decided on or not. Also, is there a reliable source regarding the citizen groups and their opposition to the proposed environmental study at the disposal site?-- Arobinson129 (talk) 02:17, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ocean Plastic[edit]

Is there anything going on in Japan about the gigantic ocean plastic problem? Very much depending on fish and other ocean products one would expect Japan to be a leader in this field. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.86.90.39 (talk) 09:49, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
