King Hippo[edit]

INAPPROPRIATE. I'VE SPOKEN TO MR. BEAN AND HE'S DECIDED TO PRESS CHARGES. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.35.200.131 (talk) 01:37, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

I think the main page should mark the fact that the Mero boxing match was a work, and the Gunn match a shoot.(Halbared 09:37, 16 April 2006 (UTC))[reply]

How about including his more about his participation in mixed martial arts, perhaps his record in that sport as well? 205.206.128.85 22:18, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did a little editing, deleting one sentence about his fight with Bart Gunn. This was mentioned twice and I think the second time is better suited for this article. MattIowa1 14:10, 1 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Mr Bean BBQ[edit]

Is there any relevance with the link to Mr Bean's BBQ? Or is it advertising? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.98.241.80 (talk) 16:22, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A link is necessary to verify such a place exists and is his. The old one didn't seem to be working, however, so I changed to a new one. Senor Vergara (talk) 03:23, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, my names megan. I'm from Washington state and I'm hoping this letter goes to my father Eric, he also goes by the name butter bean. Please if you could get a hold of him for me that would be great. You can also pass my email to @ oct72019@yahoo.com. Thank you again.

Photo[edit]

That infobox picture is (literally and figuratively) a joke. There isn't a single freely-licensed image- or even a promo image- of Butterbean? The best we can do is this nonsense? -- Kicking222 20:57, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Figures + Joke Picture[edit]

User Jacketoff is purposely putting in incorrecting figures with an inappropriate picture and this is vandalism. Sherdog.com has the correct fight statistics for this fighter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.159.245.208 (talkcontribs) Wasn't he born in Americus, Georgia? Not Michigan

What's a shootfight?[edit]

Anybody? --AW 22:39, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A legitimate contest. Normally used in wrestling circles to distinguish from matches which have predetermined outcomes.Halbared 13:34, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fight against Mike Bernardo[edit]

Butterbean Lost against Mike Bernardo but I dont know if it is an official fight.

Look at the video http://youtube.com/watch?v=S61HkGN6CDc

Yes, it is, see http://www.k-1sport.de/en/database/show_fighter.php?id=17 and http://www.k-1sport.de/en/database/show_fighter.php?id=88 --ProfMA 12:28, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fight Validation[edit]

I removed one fight (Muskegon) from his article. It was originally logged as a loss, however, all Internet sources say it was ruled a double DQ. There apparently was a good deal of controversy over the ruling, and the rules it was fought under appear to have been modified considerably from standard MMA rules. I think both situations may explain why places like Sherdog have not registered the fight as an official MMA contest. In this case, I think it is best we do the same. Senor Vergara (talk) 16:40, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Neither of his fights with Tom Howard appear on Sherdog, either, however there are Internet sources and videos which seem to indicate they occurred and are correct. I cannot find any confirmation anywhere on the Pete Sischo fight (except for sites which plagarize directly from Wikipedia), and think we will have to remove it if none can be found. Boxing record fixes[edit]

Changed his boxing record from 110 wins (98 by KO) to 77 wins (58 by KO), according to BoxRec.com's entry on him. Gipphe (talk) 09:07, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To my understanding, Esch has fought Doug Norris on his 6'th match. At the begging of the match the statistic shows that Esch has 6 wins as can be seen here: Video on YouTubeOfir michael (talk) 21:00, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

German descent[edit]

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was not moved. As noted, the requested title is a dab page and were we to change that to a primary target it would need to redirect to Phaseolus lunatus. The current title thus may not be as common as his moniker, but naturally avoids any need for a parenthetical disambiguator that would thus be required next to Butterbean, such as (boxer).--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:00, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Eric EschButterbean – Per WP:COMMONNAME. He is a boxer much more recognized by his nickname than by his real name. GeicoHen (talk) 19:49, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. I agree that the boxer is most often known as "Butterbean". However, the page title would have to be Butterbean (boxer) to avoid confusion with actual beans, and using the subject's real name as the page title avoids the need for artificial disambiguation. That's reason enough to endorse the current usage. 168.12.253.66 (talk) 19:24, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. If moved, then would have to be to Butterbean (boxer) (or similar), as above. A butterbean is primarily...a type of bean! -- Necrothesp (talk) 17:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. Butterbean already exists, is a disambiguation, and links to "Eric Esch (born 1966), stage name of American boxer and mixed martial artist". Kevlar (talk) 07:52, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose WP:COMMONNAME would only make sense if there was less need of disambiguation. A different first and last name rather than a nickname related to a common food. Eric Esch can be found with redirect and disambiguation easy enough.Peter Rehse (talk) 09:56, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Boxing Record[edit]

Hey, shouldn't Butterbean's boxing record include his victory over Bart Gunn at WrestleMania XV? I mean, it was a legitimate boxing match. It wasn't a work, or scripted. So, shouldn't his victory also be included in his records?

HygorHubner (talk) 20:44, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MMA Record[edit]

Butterbean's record lists two wins that aren't on Sherdog, specifically those over Tom Howard and Pete Sischo in 2007. Does anyone have a source on those having really happened and not been a work?
