Richard Stallman connection
Richard Stallman was a computer programmer in the MIT artificial intelligence lab from 1971 until the mid- or late-80s, and he continues to use MIT as his office. In 1983, Stallman launched the free software movement which is a mega programming project based on allowing and encouraging collaboration.
Anyone know if von Hippel used Stallman's work and philosophy as a starting point or inspiration for his research?
Somehow this part looks fishy to me, almost like some self-marketing attempts of former students. It seems impossible to determine in how far these were essential collaborations. If so, the article should probably point out in what ways those made significant contributions to the academic world and not just listings of publications. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.104.22.168 (talk) 19:31, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
Following section (between my signatures) is merged from the talk page of toolkits for user innovation. I merged the articles and made the other page a redirect so I'm merging the talk pages as well. U2fanboi (talk) 14:15, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
