Start class. A good basic background and introduction. Even though the article is short, value judgments such as his being "opinionated" require inline citations. A list of his works would be useful. --Peter cohen 12:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Start class per Peter cohen. Considerable further development should be possible. A full list of his published works would indeed be helpful. -- Kleinzach 03:43, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Start class. Agree with the above comments. Also, if this really comes within the purview of the Wagner Project, there should be a lot more about Newman's views on Wagner. --GuillaumeTell 17:22, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clerihew[edit]

It would lighten the article if anyone could remember the author of
               Ernest Newman
               Said "Next week, Schumann",
               But when Sunday came
It was Wagner just the same. Seadowns (talk) 16:43, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
