This article[edit]

The article seems to have just gone into overdrive with an edit war. However the way to deal with this is not to go off and create another article as Wesleyart did and then redirect this article to there. It needs discussing in here. I have removed a whole section about an Internet Poll on the basis of it firstly having a highly POV, totally biased personal comment added at the top of it and secondly because it had an invalid source. The source was claimed to be a link to the official FIFA website result for the poll when in reality it was only a link to a post on some discussion forum. Might I suggest that if anyone has a link to any official FIFA poll (and not using a post on a discussion forum and pretending it is a link to the FIFA website) that it can be found and the information re-inserted. I am surprised that this has not been picked up before now as the references section contained this supposed source, "FIFA Internet Award - Men", FIFA, 29 November 2007." when it was nothing of the sort and it was a link to a post on the "aliraqi discussion forum" which is clearly not FIFA. Thank you.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 05:24, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article was fine before Wesleyarts decided to make a tool-box of himself and edit war with numerous users, removed all mentions of Maradona and put this "Pelé de Winner" crap (I started the article a while back and only have just seen this mess he did). I restored the pre-Wesleyarts version with all the sources and full information on the event. - Sivorian (talk) 23:40, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the results of the Internet Poll are wrong. Only the first three places are correct (Maradona, Pele, Eusebio). Could anybody verify the actual results of the Internet Polls? Jodavesa (talk) 00:06, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unparciality[edit]

"As a result, this internet poll contained basic failings like the chance of one person voting many times for his/her preferred athlete. In consequence, a Cyber Blitz by Maradona's fans from Argentina" This is tottally parcial. and should be removed since there is no official account that this happened. is just disrepecting the fact that maradona was in fact chosen bythe majority of people. the alleged blitz is only a rumor created by brazilian media in order not to recognize that people around the world recognizes maradona and not pele as the mest player ever. the fifa however wanted to give also theprice to pele for his natural obedience with such organism. you can't just use any article as a source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.216.0.158 (talk) 06:04, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

English?[edit]

The 2nd place of the FIFA Officials' Choice section is listed as an English player called NemØ. Anybody know what this box is supposed to look like? I'll check the history. Max xxx (talk) 20:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IFFHS[edit]

So, how does the IFFHS list belong to this page? I would understand if the article was "Player of the Century", but it is "FIFA Player of the Century". So, at least, there should be an explanation how the IFFHS list is relevant to the FIFA list. It could have been part of the experts voting, but without a mention (with a source), this is just speculation. 109.240.237.101 (talk) 08:10, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't belong here. Yeah. -Koppapa (talk) 17:36, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

internet vote[edit]

how did "maradona win the internet vote by wide margins" yet in the table it shows pele as winning by a mile? Hbatey1105 (talk) 16:26, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

i have fixed this - it was incorrect data in the table Hbatey1105 (talk) 16:28, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
