Much of the previous text appears to have been copied from WorldFlags101.com. I've reverted the article back to a version before this text was inserted, per WP:CP. --ScottMainwaring 04:08, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article is missing the flag designed by the fascinating kook William Walker, though a Wikipedia media image is available. I will try to insert it.Wikigratia (talk) 18:16, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article has nothing on recent flag controversies[edit]

Since the 2018 demonstrations, the Nicaraguan government regards the official blue and white national flag as something of an opposition symbol. The government is restrictive about the circumstances in which it will tolerate people displaying or flying the national flag, and those who go beyond those parameters can find themselves in trouble (see [1] etc). Those who support the government often fly the red-and-black FSLN flag (with the lettering often omitted), which is a de facto secondary Nicaraguan flag (see [2]). This should be included in the article... AnonMoos (talk) 15:30, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
