There is an error on the end of the page. Where there are the links to other flavovirus, there's the link for the Hepatitis C virus (HPV), but it is (HCV).

Naming of "yellow fever"[edit]

The article currently states:

"Flaviviruses are named from the yellow fever virus, the type virus for the family; the word "flavus" means "yellow" in Latin. However, the name "yellow fever" did not originate from its propensity to cause yellow jaundice in victims. It rather refers to the yellow flag [3] which was set up in ports (and sometimes on ships) to warn of infectious diseases and/or quarantine.[4] [5]"

These claims are both correct and incorrect. One common name for yellow fever was "yellow jack". "Jack" is a synonym for "flag"; hence, "yellow jack" is indeed a reference to the yellow quarantine flag that was flown where yellow fever was epidemic. (See Wikipedia's article "Yellow flag (contagion)".)

However, the claim that the name "yellow fever" does NOT stem from the symptom of jaundice (which commonly accompanies this disease) is false. In 1744 -- in the earliest known mention of the name "yellow fever" -- Dr. John Mitchell of Virginia, USA, stated that jaundice was the source of the disease's name. How do they compare[edit]

How do they compare structurally ? eg how similar are the proteins (their sequences, shapes and arrangement) in the icosohedral envelope between different species (eg zika, dengue, and yellow fever) ? New updated taxonomy[edit]

According to the ICTV, as of 2022, the Flavivirus genus has been renamed to Orthoflavivirus, this article should probably be edited to reflect this decision
