[Untitled][edit]

Florante at Laura (full title: Pinagdaanang Buhay ni Florante at ni Laura sa Kahariang Albanya; English: The History of Florante and Laura in the Kingdom of Albania) is an 1838 awit written by Tagalog poet Francisco Balagtas. It is considered one of the masterpieces of Philippine literature. Balagtas wrote the epic during his imprisonment.[2] He dedicated it to his former sweetheart María Asuncion Rivera, whom he nicknamed "M.A.R." and is referenced to as "Selya" in the dedication "Kay Selya" ("For Celia"). The story is loosely based on his own biography. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.158.101.114 (talk) 23:10, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone explain this?[edit]

Point #6 at the start currently read: "each stanza is full of figures of speech (according to Fernando Monleon, Balagtas used 28 types in 395 instances throughout the poem);"

"28 types"? types of what? or does "type" have some cultural meaning here? Can someone who understands what is meant improve the wording? Thanks. Gronky 01:40, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

28 types of figures of speech, i think that is what was meant. though i don't know if there are that many figures of speech.--Chemicalist 12:59, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are numerous different distinct types of figures of speech (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figure_of_speech), but only 28 types were found in 395 instances. Gryphon Hall (talk) 06:36, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions[edit]

Hi there! I'm the one who originally added the Character headline to this article in which you improved it by citing appropriate role to the mentioned characters. I added Emir as one of the minor character here in Florante at Laura together with its own proper description. Kampfgruppe (talk) 07:50, 3 September 2008 (UTC);]ieie:9/-*.|[reply]

I propose that Kay Selya be merged into this article, as the former is only a single, non-notable chapter of this book. 49.144.196.228 (talk) 05:47, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support merge. The parent article can absorb it. --Lenticel (talk) 06:25, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge. Should just be a section within this article --- Tito Pao (talk) 13:29, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
