Ahh I found it, An Irish lord had a wife named Florence in the 17 Century, many of his descendents were also named thus. Florence is also a male name, being much older than the female version. It survives as a common boys name in the south=west of Ireland. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_of_Worcester for one example. Also, for a fictional character, se 'Flurry Knox' in the Irish RM ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Irish_R.M. ).
