Column headings[edit]

Those of us who don't follow "football" need some explanation of the headings in the results tables. For instance what does D mean? Rmhermen (talk) 16:05, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you don't follow football because of the inverted commas. Personally I think it should be moved to a neutral name, soccer, as this is the English language Wikipedia. However, we'd be setting a precedent and the same would have to be done for every football tournament at every Olympics. Sorry for going off on a tangent there - D stands for draw, so logically it goes between Wins and Losses. I don't think it needs to be clarified...the majority of people know this. Goals For, Goals Against etc. becomes apparent fairly easily from reading the results. I don't understand most of the abbrievations used in these articles. The majority of sports tables are likely accessed by those who have some familiarity with the sport. The counter-argument to this is that people will access the Olympics articles regardless of how familiar they are with the sports in a lot of cases. Do you think we should make an exception? Soccer is not a neutral name, the name FIFA and the International Olympic Committee use is either Association football or just football. If anyone's wondering about the linked NFL article, they stand pretty much the same, only that instead of D, you'd have "T" (tie, which is confusingly listed after both W and L (boxing records also have the same W-L-D format)) and PF and PA (points for, points against). –Howard the Duck 19:40, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Winners in bold[edit]

Would'nt it be better to have the winners in bold, in the results, instead of having both teams in bold? To make it easier to spot the winner of each match. Bib (talk) 20:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can't change it unless you edit {{footballbox}}; both team names are boldfaced by default. Plus football scores are in single digits it's pretty easy to calculate. –Howard the Duck 19:43, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Knockout scores[edit]

Might I propose that we not put the knockout scores on the bracket until the game is done? It seems to me that people are thinking that the game is over and advancing teams, not realizing it's just an interim thing. MrArticleOne (talk) 14:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seeds[edit]

Why are the seeds in later rounds of the Bracket listed as QF1/2/3/4 and SFW1/2, etc.? The seed is A1/2/3, B/1/2, etc. MrArticleOne (talk) 00:21, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
