Just one passage[edit]

Under the section title "Fragments" a passage is quoted: "In January the people of Hims took...On the twenty-sixth of May the Saqilara went..." What's special about this passage. Is this the only surviving passage? Does Robert Hoyland quote no other passage in his book? A rationale must be provided as to why this passage, and this passage only must be quoted in the article.Bless sins (talk) 22:25, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article is about a fragment, of which the quoted text is the readable portion. Hoyland quotes many other sources but this article is about that particular source, which he titled "Fragment on the Arab Conquests". Str1977 (talk) 09:31, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Death of Muhammed[edit]

Can someone please clear for me why this contradicts the traditional date of the death of Muhammed? The sources never mentions Muhammed being alive. --BelalSaid (talk) 07:18, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's Cook/Crone's interpretation of Muhammad being mentioned. Str1977 (talk) 09:31, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

It would be great to see some details such as the manuscript(s) in which this passage is preserved, the original language, link to editions, etc. Grover cleveland (talk) 15:40, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
