Wrong conflict[edit]

This MofH award is unrelated to do with the Philippines Insurrection. The citation 'Gunner's mate, first class, serving on board the USS Philadelphia, for distinguished conduct in the presence of the enemy at Samoa, April 1, 1899' suggests action aboard ship but it was on land. I will amend the article when I have some references for the changes. I recommend using the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, (other than for total statistics as they have a plus 2 error because of separate biographies for two of the nineteen double MofH recipients) for online citations. The United States Army Center of Military History has a notice 'Please do not contact CMH ANSWERS regarding Medal of Honor issues' on its website. Samoa was divided between Germany and the US shortly after this incident which occurred on the islands which until 1997 were known as Western Samoa but are now the independent State of Samoa. I attempted to amend the URL with the a note that Samoa was not part the Philippines and was unrelated to the Spanish American War but was unsuccessful. I recommend deleting all United States Army Center of Military History references and replacing them with Congressional Medal of Honor Society references. The appropriate references in this case is https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/frederick-t-fisher The plus 2 error in the CMOHS total statistics have now been rectified and the CMOHS regularly updates statistics when new awards are presented.
