Untitled[edit]

This article seems lacking given the material differences between the French Union and the iterations of the French colonial empire that came before it. There were a lot of structural changes–voting rights, organization of colonies, political representation, etc.–that greatly restructured the relationship between France itself and the rest of the empire, many of which arguably contributed to later decolonization movements. This could also probably be merged into the main page on the French Colonial Empire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clankst (talkcontribs) 19:13, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

RFC on the end of France's colonial empire[edit]

Hi, I started an RFC on when should we said the French colonial empire ended. It's at Talk:French_colonial_empire#RfC:_When_did_the_French_colonial_empire_end.3F. Please comment there if you can. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 04:00, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Uncontroversial technical request[edit]

French Union (1946–1958)French Union - I think we don't need to put years on the title of article, because there are no other French Union during French history. Also, in other sources such as Encyclopedia and the constitution of France, or the book such as The French Army and Its African Soldiers or The Wars of French Decolonization, they usually call this political entity as French Union.

User TrueAuraCoral moved this article's original title, "French Union" to "French Union (1946–1958)", but I couldn't find any proper reason for move. I think French Union is the common notation, and the title "French Union" itself isn't disambiguation, so I think we should move this article to original one.
