Someone please explain the fire bit. What does fire have to do with these plants?

What's the difficulty? Some fynbos needs fire to germinate, as briefly explained in the article.Greenman 12:33, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Interesting how this is also the case with many Australian plants, which are also sclerophyllous and live in a similar climate Eug 05:11, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

I do not comprehend the pronunciation. The phonetic spelling seems to indicate that, in an English spelling, it would be pronounced "fane-boss." However, general rules of pronunciation would seem to indicate three possible pronunciations for the "y": "fine-boss," "fin-boss," or "feen-boss." What is the correct pronunciation? jaknouse (talk) 20:19, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

"Fane-boss" is closest, definitely not "fin", "fine" or "feen". Greenman (talk) 20:59, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
