Viewership[edit]

Since when is the Viewership column allowed to have un-finalized viewership numbers? Every TV article I edit (and there's at least two-three dozen there already) removes an edit if the edit consists of un-finalized viewership numbers. This has always been the standard, why the sudden change? The given numbers are a poor indication of the true viewership, and give false ratings. Sorry, I've only just found this after commenting about this on your talk page. I believe the totally opposite of what you're saying. Like I said on your talk page, MOS:TV doesn't say that the figure have to be final. And the simple thing that the column is titled "US Viewers (Millions)", it doesn't say final ratings or final viewers? And I'd also like to comment about your opinion of "The given numbers are a poor indication of the true viewership, and give false ratings"... the current figures are called "overnight" figures, indicating exactly how many people watched the program at the time it was aired... how does this give poor indication and possible false ratings? May I also bring Template:Episode list to your attention. Further to my above point, this also instructs editors that:
"Number of viewers who watched the episode. Should include a reference. The inclusion of viewer figures is supported by MOS:TV and provides encyclopaedic content beyond what might normally be found in a TV guide. It is therefore desirable to include referenced ratings information in an episode list."
Please note that there is no mention of "final ratings"... only "ratings", also "should include a reference" - which is what I've done. I've done everything 100% by the book regarding all the Wiki protocols I can find. Again, if you find something stating otherwise, please share. Many thanks — Limbsaw ~talk~ 02:04, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I can confirm that generally people only use the final ratings, Wikipedia by its very nature only wants accurate and sourced information regarding what is added to it. So fast national ratings which are subject to change wouldn't really fall under those guidelines because they're not accurate, they're preliminary by their very nature. In some cases a show can be adjusted down massively if there are football preemptions, for example CBS had this problem prior to Christmas where its comedy block got a good 3-6 tenth in the 18-49 adjustment for some shows on Thursday. So if people were to add the numbers there, they wouldn't be accurate come the finals. That's in my opinion anyway I've been updating ratings on here for years. 86.15.195.205 (talk) 14:30, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Songs From Finale[edit]

The 2 finale episodes still don't have their songs listed, because some of our editors won't allow them unless there's an official source for the song titles. The problem is that the ABC Music Lounge, which was listing the complete song list for each episode, stopped updating after the 2nd week. There are no signs that they will do so, either. So will our song list be forever incomplete if ABC really never releases the rest of the song titles? 69.122.183.181 (talk) 07:21, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Find another reliable source. ABC's not the only one out there. AlexTheWhovian (talk) 07:36, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recurring cast vs. guest cast[edit]

Is there any reason why Sophie McShera and Rutger Hauer are dubbed "guest stars" in the cast section, while Ben Presley or Stanley Townsend are "recurring"? WP:TVCAST does not suggest using a "guest cast" section, and also there is no difference how all of these actors are credited in the show credits.–Dark Cocoa Frosting (talk) 23:56, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@AlexTheWhovian: Is there any reason why you insist on the distinction of recurring vs. guest cast?

  • All six (Ben Presley, Darren Evans, Stanley Townsend, Genevieve Allenbury, Rutger Hauer, Sophie McShera) are credited "guest star" in the show credits, here opposed to the main credits, and co-starring (like Squire #3 or Pirate #2). (Rutger Hauer has a "with").
  • None of those six are one-off, they are all credited guest star in multiple episodes of the first season. Out of the six, the chef is the only one who is credited guest star in all episodes of the first season.
  • The cited broadwayworld is the verbatim ABC press release for episodes five and six (same as futon critic), that lists all six of these actors as guest stars (adding a "with" for Rutger Hauer, as do the broadcast credits).
  • Hauer's reference is the only one that says he "will have a recurring role".
  • WP:TVCAST does not mention a section on guest cast.

Do you have any other source why you single out for Sophie McShera?–Dark Cocoa Frosting (talk) 11:47, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point, it's valid to merge the two. But you could complain on almost every series page that exists about not having guest cast roles, especially articles that have Good Article status (e.g. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). Alex|The|Whovian 12:06, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion[edit]

I suggest to merge the episode "A New Season aka Suck It Cancellation Bear" into the show article (production section and music). The plot section could go into the List of Episodes if it wasn't mainly a close paraphrase of the press release. Then there is no need for an episode article.–Dark Cocoa Frosting (talk) 15:15, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest move of episode songs table to List of Episodes[edit]

I suggest to move the episode table with the songs to List of Galavant episodes, as this is per-episode information. The main article can have a prose music section (and for this series it really should), and also the first season soundtrack can remain. Any opposition?–Dark Cocoa Frosting (talk) 14:45, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Recurring" characters[edit]

John Stamos, Hugh Bonneville, and Al Yankovic have one guest appearance in both seasons. Does that make them recurring characters? –Dark Cocoa Frosting (talk) 21:03, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Meh... My personal benchmark for "recurring" is "more than 3–4 episodes". But I have no idea if there are any guidelines about this on Wiki. --IJBall (contribstalk) 07:30, 14 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
