Just to let you know, Gecekondu generally refers to high rise, low cost and low quality apartment buildings that were built in little time with no regard for safety. Why exactly is Robert Neuwirth even mentioned let alone quoted in this article? There are over one billion squatters worldwide and the phenomenon is under-represented on Wikipedia.
