Translation of "Bund"[edit]

Question: shouldn't 'Bund' be translated as 'Federation'? The Bundesrepublik Deutschland is generally translated as Federal Republic of Germany, so shouldn't it be German Football Federation??? - 62.158.92.17 17:15, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

in this case, association is the better translation —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.164.233.99 (talk) 19:03, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
You have a point there. The German word for 'Association' would be 'Verband'. DFB means 'German Football Federation'. Before its inauguration, there were half a dozen regional 'Verbände' already in function and these became more or less independent members of the new nationwide 'Bund'. - Another thing, 2nd last paragraph: "DFB and the Saarland were squred off in the Qualifiers", don´t know that word!? -- Best, SpVggLieth (talk) 08:35, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
well international english language media usually uses football association for all the national FAs 109.193.124.166 (talk) 08:13, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
