Name[edit]

I am of the opinion that "Dullindal"'s name should be standardized as Durandal. For one thing, fansubbers (nor even Japanese merchandise, as they are known to be inconsistent sometimes) aren't meant to be taken as supreme experts on official names. Secondly, his last name, when rendered in Japanese katakana, it appears the same as the Japanese katakana rendering of the sword Durandal (デュランダル). The Trashman 03:01, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wholeheartedly agreed. This isn't even a case where the fansubbed name differs from the official name but may be more correct, but rather a case where the original fansubbed name was clearly wrong and the official name is clearly correct.--72.72.11.157 01:01, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd agree too. Durandul has been confirmed as the spelling of the name by Bandai for English language productions/merchandise and is even further explained by the historical reference intended to be a comment about the character's actions. The current writing of the article instead promotes the earlier/possibly incorrect 'Dullindal' spelling and presents the 'Durandul' one as a dubious second spelling or rename. The feud between Bandai's spellings and fans with inflated egos because they can speak the language/love of fansub translations is well known amongst the fandom and shouldn't spill into Wikipedia entries. --HellCat86 22:59, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right. You seemed to have a point, Hell, but you just sorta...went limp near the end, no offense.

Here's my two cents: We can discuss and agree on the facts all we want, but this page is supposed to be for helping to improve the article. So, are we going to straight up overhaul everything that says "Dullindal" or leave the "incorrect" entries as they are? Ace Class Shadow 23:46, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moved the character article, replaced all references to the character's name, and changed the Cosmic Era character template as such. Unfortunately, there are still some users brainwashed by the fansubbers' mistakes who are changing the name back. I will continue to monitor this. --The Trashman 05:07, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinator Status[edit]

I know this is not much, but considering two pieces of data here, I would like to call into question Mr. Durandal's status as a Coordinator as it is noted in his profile.

One, it's beem a rather known fact that must of Gilbert's history is a hidden matter. From his actions with Pars, to his involment with the Untiment Coordinator Project, and some of his motives in SEED Destiny. Much of what we know about Durandal is shrowed in mystory. If this article is anything to be believe, the only realy firm thing we get about his background is the fact as was a Doctor prior to becoming Chairman of the PLANT High Council. If anything, they (the makers of/cast/and anyone else involved in the SEED Destiny Sequel) have clearly not gone into depth about the man's background (If I am wrong, please correct me... and display proof and/or reference to such) and heritage. So on that, the fact that he is a Corodinator becomes questionable.

Two, if I may bring to your attention the dear friend of Durandal's, one Al Da Flaga Jr., known to the world as Rau Le Creuset. You see Gilbert's dear friend happens to be neither be a Coordinator nor a little impact to the world of SEED. With that in mind it can be theroised that Rau would not the only non-Coordinator to have nested himself among the PLANTs culture. Since one thing about Newtypes (assuming that Durandal happens to be one) is that they are drawn to each other seems to have remained in SEED, it could be possible that the two kept each others secerts. In any case, it would be clear that Rau would have known if he was or wasn't, one being a friend... he could simply ask; two, being a newtype... he could look into his mind on that matter.

I will not purpose anything on this matter as of yet, but I would like to see it there in anything concert about his status as a Coordinator... becasue as far as I have seen it, that is quite questionable. What I would like to do is discuess the matter... see if can prove or disprove the fact. Thank you.

Destiny Astray[edit]

Destiny Astray does not reveal Durandal to be a member of Logos. It does reveal that he left someone out of his list of Logos members, but that person was Matias (the employer of the main characters in Destiny Astray). Matias apparently was Durandal's mole in Logos, which explains how a high-profile Coordinator knew so much about a violently anti-Coordinator secret society. 71.203.209.0 05:38, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Antagonist status[edit]

It seems that any remarks about Durandal being an antagonist are removed from this article. I'd like to know exactly why that is. While one can certainly make the moral case for what Durandal hoped to accomplish (world peace through dystopian-style genetic engineering), you cannot deny the basic premises of what makes a character an antagonist: The protagonists struggle against him.

We also say Shinn is a villain in his article because he goes against the SEED protagonists. By this same logic, Durandal is an antagonist (and perhaps a villain).

So unless anyone has a real rebuttal to this, I am going to add his antagonist status back and I seriously think we should consider classifying him as a villain because of his shady activties in the series and his goal of global dominion. 69.243.158.192 (talk) 21:32, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
