No one is saying this really happened (ergo, "semi-legendary account"). It's a legend about the saint, and explains why sometimes he's depicted in a certain iconographical way. Medieval vitae are full of this sort of thing, and it is certainly encyclopedic. Alekjdstalk 16:42, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
