Goddamned (album)Goddamned

  • There are no other articles with the title "Goddamned". As such, the disambiguator "(album)" in this title is unnecessary. Neelix (talk) 22:55, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Goddamned" currently redirects to "Damnation" (which makes sense since "Damnation" is a more likely search aim than this album). From there the album is accessible via the disambiguation link. On the other hand, one could indeed rename the article and add a link to "Damnation" to the article top. Hekerui (talk) 23:38, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree that Damnation is a more notable topic than this album, but when typing "Goddamned" into the search bar, it seems more likely to me that a user will be looking for something called "Goddamned" rather than the concept to which the profanity alludes. The term is used far more often as a pejorative or as an intensifier than as an adjective meaning "damned by God". Neelix (talk) 01:39, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • At the very least we need a hatnote at damnation if goddamned is to redirect there, pointing to the article on the album. As it is, it's not obvious how to find the album article at all! And alternatively, if this move goes ahead, a hatnote from the album article to the article on damnation. I'm tending towards leaving it as is with the hatnote added, but not strongly. No vote as yet. Andrewa (talk) 06:36, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I had actually improved the hatnote at "Damnation" to include "Damn", which directs here. Regardless, I think this article should be renamed "Goddamned" with a hatnote to "Damn" and/or "Damnation". Hekerui (talk) 09:42, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • That option makes most sense to me. Either way, the hatnote linking to the other article is essential. Neelix (talk) 22:03, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Provided the hatnote is included. Skinsmoke (talk) 02:12, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The swearword "goddamned" will likely stay in use for a long time, but the music album Goddamned will likeliest prove as ephemeral as most pop music is. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:19, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. I fail to be convinced that the album is the primary use of Goddamned and I think that the point about the staying power of the album as the primary use, if it even is, by Anthony Appleyard is significant. The generic use of Goddamned is the primary use and should remain as a redirect. Add a hat note to damnation and all should be well. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:37, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
