[edit] Buzhou Shan

This article asserts that Mt. Everest is the same as the mythical Buzhou Shan. This is anachronistic speculation. The knowledge that Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the world is modern. The Chinese name for Mt. Everest is Zhu mu lang ma feng, derived from the Tibetan language name, Chomolungma. There is no evidence from any credible scholarly source that I can find for the Chinese identifying Everest as Buzhou Shan. In other wikipedia articles refering to the mountain, Buzhou Shan is translated as Buzhou Mountain, so I will follow this convention. --Ouyangwulong (talk) 07:09, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
