I do not agree in writting concerns about the word Gourmand and its reference to the Seven deadly sins - The reason is France is a laique country where religious insight as no right and place !

I disagree with the implication that the negative connotations of "gourmand" are old and obsolete. And so does every dictionary I have consulted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.21.7.223 (talk) 05:23, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gourmand[edit]

I am astonished to see that gourmand is equated with gourmet when they are polar opposites. A gourmet is someone who appreciates fine food. A gourmand does not. All a gourmand cares about is quantity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.175.240.151 (talk) 08:57, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, not quite, but the two terms are clearly different. Paul B (talk) 14:51, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well Gourmand has and is equated to gluttony. Gourmet is a connoisseur. End of story. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.12.96.8 (talk) 01:20, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
