Just resurfaced (sorry) on BBC's The One Show and in the local Portsmouth press: . The name Pollyanna seems to have been endorsed by Royal Navy Submarine Museum Archivist George Malcolmson. Although the town was called Polyarnoe (or, in fact, Polyarny), the reindeer could easily have been "named after" the town with the name Pollyanna.
