No children per Battle Abbey[edit]

I removed this section:

"He married Agnes (Agnetis de Ballon). They had two sons William de Ballon and Matthew de Ballon, who both predeceased him, and a daughter Emeline de Ballon. The descendants of Emeline took his name as the Ballon lords of Much Marcle, Hertfordshire. Her grandson John de 'Balun' was the last name on the list of barons to witness the confirmation of the charters in 1225.[1][citation needed]"

Without sources, I have kept only what I could find citations for and others could see and confirm. J. Round (1901) apparently found two daughters. See [fmg.ac/Users/Journal/03-03/Ballon.pdf "Lost in Time: the other daughter of Hamelin de Ballon"] (access restricted). Of these, one seems to be Emeline, who is said to have married a son of Roger de Breteuil, dispossessed Earl of Hertford.

Unfortunately, the source confuses names and generations, and is less than reliable when it comes to tracing genealogical links. The Emmeline de Balun, if she existed, is more likely to be of another branch of the de Balun/Ballon family. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.68.31.113 (talk) 17:19, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Relatives[edit]

Bertha de Balun, a relative of his, was mother of Miles de Gloucester, 1st Earl of Hereford (1092-1143) who rose to prominence under Henry I.
