The statement in the main article that the handicap makes races "fairer" is disputed. In other sports adding variable weights to the competitors would be called "cheating" or "fixing".
- What is "cheating" is of course dependent on the sport in question. If the rules of a sport, or at least a particular competition allow it, handicapping is no more cheating than using your hands in basketball is, or using your feet in soccer.Wschart (talk) 13:19, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
