Dates[edit]

The article says that "The company was acquired by HeidelbergCement in 1998." The source for this is a Scottish Herald newspaper article with the headline "Hanson sold to Heidelberg for £8bn", with the issue date given as 16 May 2007. Now, I can't believe it takes Scottish newspapers nine years to print the news, so I conclude that one of the dates is incorrect. But which? The source is a dead link,so no help there. Merge Hanson Cement into Heidelberg Materials UK[edit]

I discovered this article while reviewing links to the former Hanson (company) article, now Heidelberg Materials UK (Hanson rebranded in October 2023). I think this article might usefully be merged into Heidelberg Materials UK, but I wanted to seek other editors' views first - please contribute to discussion at Talk:Heidelberg Materials UK#Merge proposal.
