Quote[edit]

I thought Threepenny was the source of the idea of who is a bigger thief, the bank robber or the man who owns the bank. —  MusicMaker 00:06, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Book by Brecht?[edit]

The infobox says 'Book by Brecht' but that is not explained in the text. What book? -- Kleinzach 08:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Book seems to be a common term for scenario+unsung dialogue, not quite equivalent to libretto. I'm almost sure EH and bb were accidentaly swapped in the infobox; Brecht & co. probably is the latest word on their relative contributions, which should be detailed. Baltimore production-- pre-2006[edit]

The article states that the 2006 SF American Conservatory Theatre production was subsequently performed in Baltimore, but I remember seeing Happy End at Baltimore's Center Stage during their 1994-95 season... so there's something wrong with this chronology... According to the past productions section at Center Stage, Happy End was produced there in the 1994-95 season; "Happy End by Bertolt Brecht (book/lyrics) & Kurt Weill (music), Directed by Irene Lewis". I guess the reference in the article is to the version with the revised book/translation by Michael Feingold, although there is no listing for the show after the 94-95 production, so I do not know where it was performed (will check on this later). I do not plan on adding this 1994-95 production at this time, will revisit. Reference is at [[1]], click on "History/Past Productions. Flami72 (talk) 15:53, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, this gets even more interesting, because this review in the Baltimore Sun of the Center Stage production, dated February 24, 1995 states: "Center Stage's production uses Michael Feingold's taut, spirited adaptation." referenceis at Baltimore Sun, 'Happy End' serves up a brew of Brecht light', by J. Wynn Rousuck, February 24, 1995 (I am unable to do a link to the article).Flami72 (talk) 17:07, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I revised the Production history section to show the Center Stage 1995 production, also added the Feingold tranlsation was used there as well as at The Arena Stage (Washington).Flami72 (talk) 17:30, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
