An airport is quite a notable structure, especially for a small village. Why is it only mentioned in the article by Khalidi? Do none of the sources you have note its existence? Chesdovi (talk) 22:55, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is quite difficult to find information about the present situation of the former Palestinian villages, the only one who has done it systematically is Khalidi in his huge 1992-book. And he does not say anything more than what is quoted. (When he writes "is still in use"..he might mean that the buildings are still in use? Your guess is as good as mine.) I would think that more information about it could possibly be in publications about the three Israeli settlements which are now on Hatta´s land. However, I would also suppose any such information might be in Hebrew (which I don´t read)...as most of the info on these settlements are in Hebrew. The only thing I came up with on google was Hatta International Airport in Jakarta! However on google maps one can definately make out the former British airfield on the village lands. I wonder what the British history of the area is and where it can be sourced. I wonder what Hatta's villagers thought about an airstrip on their doorstep. Heh; yeah, I also ended up in Indonesia when I searched over at google-books ;)..I´m sure it is in mentioned in some memoirs, somewhere. Local relationships with the military bases could be strained, to say the least, see Sarafand al-Amar.
