Peninsula vs Spit[edit]

I was wondering about the accuracy of naming Hel a peninsula. Geographically it is a spit. It consists entirely out of sand and was formed purely by the mechanisms which create spits. Unfortunately the name peninsula has crept into popular usage both in English and Polish. What would be the best course of action regarding the naming of Hel? Chelman (talk) 09:59, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

It's not actually wrong, though, to call it a peninsula, is it? If it is a spit then that should be mentioned in the article, but if it's more commonly called Hel Peninsula than Hel Spit, then that seems a better title for the article.--Kotniski (talk) 10:05, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
