Controversy[edit]

It seems Shanks is attracting controversy over comments made in an editorial article in a popular Biblical Archaeology journal. I've only heard one side of the story - can anyone elaborate further? Oliver Keenan 15:30, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Religious identification[edit]

Does anyone happen to know how Shanks identified religiously? I did a quick search and a couple of obits and encyclopedia-style articles in places we may or may not consider reliable say he was "born into a Jewish family", but for someone whose fame rests on a biblical archaeology magazine, you'd think there would be more to confirm his beliefs. Has he written about it in eg. the forewords to his books? –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 19:52, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
