Worldview[edit]

I do not think this article has a proper worldview. Literature from other countries such as the Japanese series Card Captor Sakura by Clamp, a series that is for young children has homosexual characters. Japan is a country that is much more liberal about homosexuality and it appears frequently in children books and comics, as well as teen and adult books and comics. This article seems to only address English language books.

So write a section about Japanese books. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 15:21, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But keep it sourced! No WP:OR by just listing stories that you've read. Secondary sources are much better in this case.--Knulclunk (talk) 02:12, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Potter section[edit]

Honestly, I think too much of a focus has been placed on Dumbledore's homosexual orientation in this article. I mean, almost half of the content is about it! Yes, it is an important revelation, but even the article Albus Dumbledore doesn't spend as much time discussing the issue. I think the section should be trimmed down a bit and possibly worked into the "Controversy" section so that other pieces of children's literature with LGBT characters are given their fair share of the article, too. —Mears man 20:33, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Hunting of the Snark[edit]

There is an astonishingly serious discussion over wether Lewis Carroll's "Hunting" (with great illustrations from Henry Holidy) is a children's book (1876). I don't think it would do any harm to let the kids read the poetry and to decode the illustrations too, but some parents may be in for a surprise: Talk:The_Hunting_of_the_Snark#A_face_in_the_last_picture.3F. --DL5MDA (talk) 16:21, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Necessity[edit]

As the Nipponphile observed but did not correct this article lacks an English language world view but until that happens I'm wondering whether this article needs to exist at all. There are just four linked books that delve deeply into homosexual issues and a reference to Harry Potter. It seems to me that placing internal links for the other books at the bottom of their respective pages would be more appropriate since this one more resembles a compilation of the four books' entries rather than an article in its own right unlike the gay and lesbian teen fiction articles which list dozens of books and describe their respective genre's development over the decades. rename "Homosexuality in children's literature" to "LGBT themes in children's literature"[edit]

I think this article should be renamed as "LGBT themes in children's literature", I think this would more readily encompass the history of the themes in the genre and avoids some of the pitfalls of guessing if differently gendered literature is considered "homosexual" which itself is a word often used pejoratively against LGBT people. I see this page isn't very active but anyone care one way or another? Trekhippie (talk) 02:45, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mentions[edit]

This only seems to be about Children's fiction where the book is about gay themes, what about books that just mention them? 82.33.88.252 (talk) 22:11, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
