[edit] Recent Addition
I'm doubtful as to delete the addition of Fernald being nice in his disguises because I haven't read any of the books recently but does anyone know for sure that Fernald was being nice to the Baudelaires' then out of the goodness of his heart of if it was what the job required? --CyberGhostface18:50, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Answer: He tried to kill Klaus in the first one. Then he did kill Maurecia in the twelvth one. So, he has been evil.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.120.246 (talk • contribs)

- What are you talking about? He wasn't even in the last book. and who the hell is Maurecia?--CyberGhostface 13:06, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

- Yes he was nice. more in the sixth than in the second
- Out of the goodness of his heart or because of the role he was playing?--CyberGhostface 19:51, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fernald
Okay, look. We all know that 'Fernald' is Hooky's real name. Fine. But considering that most of the public know him by the Hook Handed Man, and the revelation about his real name was revealed in the 11th book of the series, it would be better to label the title such.
The Stephen King character Randall Flagg's original name is Walter o'Dim, or Walter Padick. But while this information has been included in the article, it hasn't been the new title. The Spider-Man article is called 'Spider-Man' not Peter Parker.
If someone, say, had watched the movie or read the first five books and wanted to look up Hooky in the list, do you honestly think he'd know to click on Fernald? CyberGhostface 19:44, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Profile
Unless you can find a better picture, let it stay up. And if it *really* bothers you, tell it in Discussion. Don't just delete the whole profile info.--CyberGhostface 02:16, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Fan art
Is there really need for fan art? A real picture would work. --Numberonedad 15:57, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
- Unless we have Mr. Helquist's permission to use one of his drawings (not that I'm certain he ever drew Hooky) the fan art will have to do.--Signor Giuseppe 02:10, 22 May 2005 (UTC)

- But it's not canon...--The Kooky One 13:21, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
- There was a small illustration of Hooky in The Grim Grotto, but about the permission, wiki has a Brett Helquist picture on the Mr. Poe page. Should it be removed? Could a framegrab be found of the film Fernald? We have movie pics of Violet, Klaus, Sunny, Monty and Josephine. Squidward2602 17:30, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

- Thanks to me, we now also have a better photo of Sunny and a photo of Mr. Poe. I'm going to find one of Fernald. --Count Olaf 09:30, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- Will that be OK? I creen cap it from the website. Chrisyu357 09:02, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

- The pic right now is good. Don't change it.--CyberGhostface 13:05, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'll add it to the page for reference but the Helquist picture is better for his profile.--CyberGhostface 13:17, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

- I really think the pages are fine the way the are at the moment. The illustrations better suit the characters than the movie version...for example, the person of indeterminate gender is a large bald thing that no ones what it is, not a transvestite. And the girl's sleeve is blocking Hooky.

- I think this pic better suits the group.

I've had to delete a lot of the above images because they did not have a valid copyright tag. The webscreenshot tag, as it says at the bottom, is not appropriate for images and media found on websites — it should be used for screenshots of websites only. Additionally, as they are only used here, in a talk page,
[edit] Spoiler
The link to this article in the ASOUE template under the title "Fernald (The Hook-Handed Man)" is a big spoiler for anyone reading any of the ASOUE pages. I suggest it be shortened to just "Fernald" -- Michael

I have redirected Fernald Widdershins to Hook-Handed Man. Hopefully, the merging discussion is over. --Count Olaf 09:30, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hookhandedman1.jpg
Image:Hookhandedman1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
