Personal Life[edit]

Could we please refrain from using phrases like "Ian's zaniness was inspired..." and "His ratings went through the roof..." in the article. Reference links supporting these statements are not cited. It is doubtful that they exist at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pozzdonn (talkcontribs) 03:38, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ordained Minister[edit]

Shouldn't there be some mention of Ian being an ordained minister?

Done "Punnett has a Masters of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, and has been ordained a Deacon in the Episcopal Church." -- OlEnglish (Talk) 05:45, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First Name[edit]

Ian is not his first name... does anyone know?

It might be Case Ian Punnett but I don't know what the source of that is. -- OlEnglish (Talk) 05:56, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mention of Wikipedia[edit]

Punnett once mentioned Wikipedia on his show. A caller mentioned Wikipedia and Punnett said something like "the Wikipedia says something very strange about me." What this was, I have no idea. Theshibboleth 08:01, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! What happened was that I email him the Coast to Coast AM entry which described Ian as "bringing a very liberal viewpoint to the the show" which totaly gets Ian wrong. Ian is open minded but leans very conservative. I think his exact quote on the show was (talking to his wife) "wikipedia, I showed you that, it's that online encylopedia that totally got me wrong". The Coast to Coast Am entry has since been updated. --Schalicto 20:14, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Well, if someone could incorporate the following email exchange into the article it would be appreciated. That he considers himself not to be liberal is important, but I'm not sure how to source the statement, or if I wanted to cite the whole email in the article, how to get it to format correctly.

  • Text of an email to Ian...

"It sure is funny. I'll have to save this for my left wing friends who get so mad at me.

God bless, Punnett

I was just reading over the Wikipedia entry for Coast to Coast Am and I thought I would bring this paragraph to your attention...

"Prior to George Noory becoming the weekday host of the show, the show was usually guest-hosted by either Ian Punnet or Barbara Simpson on weekends. As previously stated Barbara Simpson still occasionally guest-hosts although Hilly Rose is now far more commonly the guest-host when one is needed. Ian Punnet has left the show to become a religious Minister although he has come back a select few times to guest-host. Ian Punnet was known for often expressing a left-wing point of view on the show whereas Barbara Simpson was known for her right-wing point of view. This is in lieu of the fact that although the show is very rarely expressedly political, political undercurrents often purvey the show, especially in regards to conspiracy theories."

When I used to listen to you on Coast to Coast I would never have described you as "expressing a left-wing point of view". I just thought that was funny.

Josh Parker"

The Ferrit[edit]

  • I don't get to listen to coast to coast these days. Why is he called "The Ferrit"? --Schalicto 00:41, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's because of his voice. He sounds like a ferret when it's dooking.

"Tasty Canadians" is getting old.[edit]

It's not really very witty to begin with, and it gets very tiresome after hearing it for the 200th time. Besides i would guess morbidly obese American redneck trash would taste better anyway. Landroo -- Appalled Canadian -- 01:02, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

wow, not a very good way to defend your point by attacking our neighbors, the USA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.230.119.26 (talk) 06:47, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lol, Ian's not trying to be offensive Landroo (like you seem to be trying to be, but I get you being upset. It's just not very tactful to be all out offensive to try to knock an un-offensive comment though). If you knew Ian, you'd get the humor in it, and if you e-mailed him, and told him you were genuinely offended, I'm sure he'd apologize. Jay (talk) 19:26, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just me?[edit]

Does it seem that the subjects he "covers" while hosting do not really seem of the Coast to Coast AM type? I usually get bored of listening when he is hosting. And yes, despite him saying he is not politically liberal, he seems to have a lot of opinions, views and interests very similar to those on the left. Which, in my opinion, is partially why he is so boring. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.58.46.109 (talk) 17:41, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

Well IP's guests are less often of the obvious nutcase variety that GN so often has to interview. Compared to AB/GN, IP covers more intellectual topics, politics, finance and so on. Some may consider intellectual boring. Anyway describing him as Liberal would be fitting - depends on what that is in the US. OTOH if he hasn't been politically active (or has he?), why mention political orientation at all on wikipedia...?

Fair use rationale for Image:Punnet Publicity Photo.jpg[edit]

Image:Punnet Publicity Photo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

WXLC[edit]

I don't know where to find a source, but as "Ian Case" Punnett was the nighttime dj on WXLC-FM in Waukegan (top 40) for at least 3 years in the late 1980s, and a great one at that -- like a nicer version of John "Records" Landecker in his prime. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.222.54.211 (talk) 19:27, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it Ian Case or Case Ian? or Ian "Case" Punnett? -- OlEnglish (Talk) 05:47, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I saw it written as "Ian Case Punnett" in media 24.188.207.20 (talk) 00:19, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
His name is Case Ian Punnet, but while working as a DJ he used the name Ian Case. 66.41.134.152 (talk) 01:55, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New Media[edit]

Ian Punnett was one of the early adopters of social media / new media tools used in conjunction with his radio appearances both on C2CAM and his other radio show. Should this be included in this article? 24.188.207.20 (talk) 00:04, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disco Ferret?[edit]

Can this possibly be a real film? Evanh2008, Super Genius (User page) (talk) 08:16, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Ian on C2C[edit]

I was a huge fan of Ian. I was sad to see him disappear from the show! Thanks Ian! Sandy SandyLeeMe (talk) 09:46, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Date of death[edit]

Every source says date of death is December 21. C2C has a post with a dateline of December 22 and it says that Ian died the day before, ie December 21, even though the headline (erroneously) in it says date of death is December 22. Check out citations 10 and 12 if you don't believe me. AlGarcia41 (talk) 12:20, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I may be wrong. I did find one other source that says that he passed on December 22 [1]. Every other source says December 21. Need some help here. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlGarcia41 (talkcontribs) 10:34, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ian’s death date is December 22, 2023 according to an obituary written by one of his sons and posted on his widow, Margery’s, podcast “Best to the Nest” page. 100.1.95.205 (talk) 02:03, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
