I believe that the link to MeetAnOstoMate.com should be re-inserted. This is a website for ostomates from around the world. It is intended to help ostomates find friends and/or start relationships. I think the link would be an appropriate addition to the topic of this article and useful for the readers.

I understand the desire to offer a resource helpful to people with ostomies, but Wikipedia's guildlines don't allow such entries. Here are four Wikipedia unexceptable external link guidlines that might apply:

  • Links mainly intended to promote a website.
  • Links to sites that primarily exist to sell products or services. For example, instead of linking to a commercial bookstore site, use the "ISBN" linking format, giving readers an opportunity to search a wide variety of free and non-free book sources.
  • Links to sites that require payment or registration to view the relevant content.
  • Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace), discussion forums or USENET.

I keep on finding crohns 4 young adults link being removed. This is an information and support site for people with ileostomys. This site is the same sort of site as Shazs site. Why is it being removed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.74.214.33 (talk) 10:16, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Why was the external link "Crohn's Diaries" removed? This really isn't fair, considering there is a link to "Shaz's ostomy pages". You allowed that, so why won't you allow mine? This is a contradiction in your rules. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.153.172 (talkcontribs) 20:27, 2009 January 20

I removed it because it seems to be fairly obvious blog/personal website WP:LINKSPAM. You're probably right in that that other site should not be included, I'll look at it a bit more in a minute. Thanks for pointing that one out. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 20:44, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Shaz's site is not a blog/personal website, it is one of the ultimate websites for ostomates to get information on ostomies and includes a forum for asking questions and getting advice from other ostomates. Shaz's site was the ONLY place I found to get information after being released 6 months after emergency surgery with no knowledge of ostomies other than how to look after mine. Shaz's site and the forum were truly lifesavers for me and taught me that life goes on. And Shaz's site does not violate any of the guidelines above. It should not have been removed. I understand personal blogs being removed, but that's not what this is and I agree meet an ostomate shouldn't be here, but please put it back. Another site to add is http://ostomyland.com which includes both a forum and a chat room. Another site that is helping to raise ostomy awareness and remove social stigmas from having an ostomy is http://www.uncoverostomy.com76.67.72.252 (talk) 01:16, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
