Is the Rage Against The Machine album cover really appropriate here? I don't think an encyclopedia would use an album cover as an example of self-immolation, and neither should we. Use the source photograph. - Furrykef 08:12, 21 Aug 2004 (UTC)

If I remember correctly, some homosexual immolated himself to protest anti-gay stance of pope John Paul II.

Darth Vader immolation[edit]

Does this refer to Return of the Jedi, where Darth Vader asks Luke to remove his respirator mask? Just wanted to check before editing.

Yes, they do it in the forest IIRC with all the ewoks dancing around, also they do it at the end of the phantom menace, but I think mentioning one is enough

By fire ?[edit]

According to the wiktionary, immolation is not necessarily by fire. This was already noticed at Talk:Self-immolation/Archive_1#Dictionary_definition, but does not appear to have been taken into account. --Rinaku (talk) 12:12, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
