Season 3 Character Summaries[edit]

The character summaries for Season 3 contained major spoilers about events late in the season; I've removed those. Also, the summary of Jesse gave his homosexuality more importance than it has in the show (it's part of his identity, but not the principal focus of his distress or his treatment). Finally, some of the entries were just a bit unnecessarily detailed. Christopher Powell (talk) 16:48, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Critical Opinion[edit]

In paragraphs 2 and 3 under the "Season 2" heading, the critical analysis of the show taken from articles by Krystal Hawkins in New York Magazine should be removed. It is a critic's interpretation of the show, not factual information per se about the season. Any objection? Or else it could appear under "Critical Responses". But I really question the noteworthiness of one critic's opinion as to the final symbolic message of the show. Christopher Powell (talk) 01:36, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Episode list[edit]

It'd be nice if this show's page followed the convention that other TV shows' pages follow: links to the episode listings for the seasons. There are major spoilers in this page that I didn't appreciate reading. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.248.98 (talk) 01:42, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Season Two -- need citation[edit]

What's the source for a Season Two on HBO? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Girl2k (talkcontribs) 21:25, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If anyone answers that, would it be based on BeTipul's 2nd season? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.138.6.157 (talk) 19:31, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Differences between American and Israeli Versions[edit]

Some criticism was mounted during Gabriel Byrne's interview on Charlie Rose that the American version of In Treatment is a verbatim translation of the Israeli version. Can anyone who has seen both versions comment? Jewpiterjones (talk) 21:37, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I could attest that some episodes (especially the earlier ones) are 90% accurate translations. Interestingly enough, the added text usually involves more sexual information and contemporary-consumer phenomenas such as blogs, Ipods etc. That being said, with the seasons progress episodes became more autonomous (with at least 1 episode which never appeared in the Israeli scheme for the season). 80.179.13.34 (talk) 11:17, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After I saw the two versions (the american and the israeli) in the two languages - I agree: it's amazingly the same text. (eccept some minor environmental differences, like the fighter pilot who bombed in Gaza instead of Iraq, etc.) Danny-w (talk) 09:24, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin Spacey[edit]

Anyone know anything about Kevin Spacey (at least I think it's Kevin Spacey) as the "Previously on In Treatment" voice? Jewpiterjones (talk) 02:07, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This has been driving me nuts! I too thought it was Kevin Spacey or maybe Jim Gaffigan. Either way, I looked and Looked all over the internet and haven't found anything till now. Neither of those two are credited in any way (or uncredited for that matter) so who knows. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.187.72.165 (talk) 08:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Setting[edit]

I think it takes place in a DC-area suburb? 68.49.45.29 (talk) 00:05, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the only clue I've picked up on about where it is located is the mention of Paul doing the NY Times crossword puzzles. Has it been mentioned elsewhere? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.177.106.180 (talk) 14:12, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems that they are being deliberately vague, but 1) one episode talked about being a "4 hour drive" from some unspecified place in Virginia; 2) they referred to going "up to Boston"; 3) mentioned "Middleborough", but didn't say what state- there's one in Massachusetts, and a "Middleborough East" in Delaware. Tvoz |talk 02:31, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Episodes 21 and 22 definitively show the setting is the Washington, D.C. area. Laura tells of her affair with David in the Hay Adams Hotel, and reveals she lived in DC with her father (who then is hospitalized, and she is caring for him). Alex also tells of attending a party in Georgetown. I have added the setting to the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.6.64.98 (talk) 23:34, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The outdoor park location in Season 2, Oliver, Week 6 is Byrne Park in Brooklyn. You can see the street signs in the background when Paul is speaking to Oliver on the swingset. --Johnreagan (talk) 04:41, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tuesday[edit]

Alex, Paul's Tuesday patient, is now dead. How should the table reflect that? Last Tuesday, his father was the central character...

Removing "deceased" from Alex's character. It's a major spoiler for those who haven't viewed the series in entirety. Rayofdawn24 (talk) 07:27, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If it's true, then WP:SPOILER applies. "It is not acceptable to delete information from an article about a work of fiction because you think it spoils the plot." We just need to word it to reflect that it happens later in the first season. - Colfer2 (talk) 17:47, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But there is no detailed plot synopsis, so I don't see a place for it. The character table does not include plot developments, just who the characters are. ?? - Colfer2 (talk) 17:51, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox cast list[edit]

The cast list in the infobox applies only to Season 2; no one who was only in Season 1 is included. That makes it read like a TV listing that changes as the cast changes rather than an encyclopedia article. The infobox should list either the full cast from all seasons, which would make it unmanageably long already, or only the cast members who remain throughout the run of the show. Since the cast for each season is listed in the body of the article, I think the infobox should list only the major, recurring cast, namely Byrne and Wiest. I'm going to make that change. If anybody objects, please explain why before undoing it.--Jim10701 (talk) 03:33, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Country of origin[edit]

This series originated in the United States, not in Israel. The US version of The Office is not listed as originating in the UK just because the original series on which it was based was created there. The same applies to In Treatment. Just because it's based on an Israeli TV series and was created by some of the same people (also the case with The Office), it was developed for production specifically in the US, which is what "Country of origin" means. I'm going to change the Country of origin to the US. If anybody objects, please explain, don't just undo.--Jim10701 (talk) 03:47, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks as if this was reverted by an anonymous user, with the edit summary "The original version of the series was made in Israel - country of origin means is a referrence to the place where the specific series was filmed for the very first time!!!". I don't think the anon's interpretation is correct; In Treatment is not the same as BeTipul. The country of origin for In Treatment is the United States, but the country of origin for BeTipul is Israel. I'm going to revert back to Jim's version. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 07:08, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Season Four[edit]

Has In Treatment been renewed for a fourth season? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.99.87.83 (talk) 05:12, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. It is now 10 and 1/2 years since this question was posed and I can definitively say that it is on television.

Season three unnecessary spoilers[edit]

Why are there all those spoilers about season three characters? There should be only a description of the patients, not what happens with any of them. --Lecen (talk) 09:57, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved and will merge the adaptation list into the BeTipul article and leave a hatnote to the Italian series. -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:14, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

– The American series is undoubtedly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC with respect to long-term significance, reader interest, and usage of the term "In Treatment." The American series has received 129,000 views (!) over the last year, whereas the Italian series has a comparatively minuscule amount – the American series has 35x more views on average per month. As page views demonstrate the PRIMARYTOPIC here, a hatnote to the disambiguation page should suffice. -- Wikipedical (talk) 21:51, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge In Treatment into BeTipul and redirect it there. In Treatment isn't really a disambiguation page at all: there are only 2 valid entries that might otherwise be called "In Treatment". Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 13:29, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • I don't follow the logic. The American series is far and away the PRIMARYTOPIC for the term "In Treatment," especially on the English language Wikipedia. BeTipul (which translates to "In Therapy") is already mentioned in the American series' article and is not known as "In Treatment." We don't redirect "Homeland (TV series)" to "Hatufim"/"Prisoners of War (TV series)" just because the Israeli version was the original incarnation, so I don't think that's the right approach here. -- Wikipedical (talk) 18:07, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
