South Bend realignment[edit]

I just received an e-mail from INDOT stating that when South Bend's Smart Streets project is finished later this year, 933 will move from the Main/Michigan couplet to just Main St. since both of those streets will carry two-way traffic. I'll be on the lookout for reliable sources. Mapsax (talk) 11:35, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is from February 2016 but show that INDOT will transfer Michigan Street to the City of South Bend. Travisarch (talk) 12:01, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wow! I try to read the Tribune every day so I don't know how I missed that. Other than the exact transfer date, which can be overlooked for our purposes by simply stating "2016", the article is good to go as a RS. If there's a press release later, we can add that too (I just looked and didn't see one yet this year). Update: Google Street View has posted September/October 2017 images of South Bend, and shows that no new route marker signage has been posted on Main/Michigan since the project's completion, yet also shows that signage is unchanged on adjoining roads not part of the project, making the routing ambiguous in the field. Hopefully that Tribune story by itself will suffice for the time being. Mapsax (talk) 19:08, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
New route markers are seen on the new street view images here, here, and here all on Main Street and two on Michigan Street north of Main Street here and here.Travisarch (talk) 01:15, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for pointing those out. (Actually I vaguely remember seeing those now from a prior search.) The one that really helps our cause is the third link, a marker along the new Michigan St. northbound lane north of Lasalle. It just doesn't help that signs still direct 933 traffic on Sample/23 westbound northward on Michigan with no way to show that it's not officially there anymore. It's still a goofy setup how 933 in reality crosses Michigan there to turn north on Main just to move back east to Michigan north of downtown. Mapsax (talk) 14:58, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
