University ratings[edit]

(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities.)

There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#University ratings. Edit request[edit]

I work as the Digital Strategy Manager at the The Institute of Cancer Research and I'm aware that I shouldn't make changes to this page because of COI issues (I've made two very minor changes today to update names of charities that have now changed). We would like someone to improve this page in light of information that is out of date.

1. The section of research is somewhat dated and refers to our old 'Scientific strategy'. Last year we published a new five year research strategy, jointy with The Royal Marsden, (available at http://www.icr.ac.uk/about-us/icr-strategy/our-research-strategy). Therefore this section could include text along the lines of:

The ICR’s research strategy is focused on combating the major clinical challenges of cancer evolution and drug resistance. The strategy has four pillars: unravelling cancer’s complexity, creating innovative approaches to treatment, leading clinical trials to develop smarter, kinder treatments, and making research count by ensuring it becomes embedded in patient care. The ICR’s research strategy is focused on combating the major clinical challenges of cancer evolution and drug resistance. 2. The specific mention of Professor Chris Nutting in this section should probably be removed…we are always appointing new Team Leaders and it feels unbalanced to single out one person here.

3. The research section makes reference to 'started work' on Centre for Cancer Imaging. This work has been completed and the centre was opened in March 2016: http://www.icr.ac.uk/news-archive/new-centre-for-cancer-imaging-to-open-window-onto-cancer

4. The teaching section could be expanded to say that we have PhD students (http://www.icr.ac.uk/studying-at-the-icr/phds-for-science-graduates)
