Ethnic and racial?[edit]

"Both ethnic and racial genetic results are based on a low sample of 390 Jamaican persons and limited regional representation within Jamaica.[12]" What is race, in the context of human biology? There are no races of mankind, only ethnicities. ~~Disturbed by the Deuteronomy reference~~ So am I to believe that my ancestors have done some irreparable wrong and the black race, myself included, will be forever cursed? I went to the referenced scripture and was appalled to see th punishment for disobedience. This article states that all descendants of slaves will be subject to that type of hell on earth. I think it's BS and it's insulting.

Pointless article since the vast majority of Jamaicans are of African descent...

Historically Jamaica Mixed race populations are called Mulattoed, Coloureds and Brown which is the most common since other raced came after abolition and mixed with some Mulatoes and Persons of Colour( Quadroon, Mulattoes, Sambo) Brown is now mostly used. Only the USA had a 1 drop rule; why does Jamicans follow everyting racist Americans and self hating Blacks do? We have our own culture just like Latin America, Africa and other West Indian cultures that have their own definition of Mixed race, not White racist ideology and self hating Blacks. This article has many problems with it. Having said that, I agree with an above poster, who pointed out that this article is fairly pointless, since about 95% of Jamaica is made up of Afro-Jamaicans. To me, it makes more sense to have articles on minorities, such as Chinese-Jamaicans, Indo-Jamaicans, Lebanese-Jamaicans, etc. This article could be merged into a general article on Jamaica.Mikesiva (talk) 08:50, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Don't try to insult me. I was just saying that I don't see much point in this page as the Jamaican population is mainly composed of persons of African descent, so this majority is most of the time is just called Jamaican. That's why you hardly hear anyone say "Afro-Jamaican" (this article was actually the first time that I had seen the word used!), while it is much more common for people to say "[insert nationality] Jamaican" for persons not of African Descent (who are ethnic minorities).

The "Notable Jamaicans of African descent" bit made me chuckle, since virtually all notable Jamaicans are of African descent anyway! This is just as pointless as an article on notable white Americans, you wouldn't find an article detailing notable white Americans. It's kind of sad to see people like ElijahTM and 86.129.92.149 who want to be spread their hatred and small mindedness on this page talking about how pointless this is to have Jamaicans of African descent on wikipedia. What is so pointless about mentioning the history of black Jamaicans who been in slavery for over 500 years of hell, huh? The childishness has got to stop now. And just because the blacks make up the majority doesn't mean they can't have their history told, what is wrong with you people? Oh boy First of all im using a public computer that anyone can use, so i dont vandalize anything.... if anyone is doing it.. its not me so dont say i vandalized anything. second of all ive said all that i needed to say and im sticking by it im not the one that needs help you do. its halarious when people think their soooo.. smart by telling others to get an education just to let you know im 19 and i graduated high school and im currently a CCMA if you know what that is. your one of those angry jamaicans that get mad when someone doesnt agree with you... how sad for you. but i will pray for you my dear.but if it makes you feel better im not an evil person just someone who see's things a little diffrently than you do. so to put an end to this cause this really is stupid arguing with someone who i dont even know. ill appologize to you even though i dont have to beacause i did not call you any vulgar names or cuss like you did. anyways ive changed my mind this page can stay i dont care for it anyways. although others might not agree to keep it.
